You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.
You can’t stop the weeds, but you can slow them down with good soil biology.

~ Oceanside Farms

Welcome to Oceanside Farms!

Oceanside Farms is a small scale market farm with a nice roadside farmstand that is open in season and when the weather permits! It’s been, as Forest Gump says, “like a box of chocolates” and you never know what we have picked on a given day until you come to the farmstand.

We will still be doing that! Our new 2022 online store will allow customers to reserve and prepay (using a checking account or credit card) for fresh produce and pick it up in a special area at the farm! Try it now by reserving your Alaska Certified Seed Potatoes for your home garden today! We’ll still operate the a la carte farmstand (cash or checks only) - and you can always browse and add to your order when you come for your online veg pick up. We also sell produce on the Alaska Food Hub (especially in the shoulder seasons.) In the Spring, watch for our fantastic fresh asparagus and strawberries!

Do you have a garden? Arrange to press your own rhubarb or apples with us! Our greens, berries, tomatoes and herbs add to your summer barbeques. Our sugar pumpkins and a wide range of squashes are a treat in the autumn!

We thank you for recognizing the value, true flavor and nutrition of our locally grown fresh, produce and we appreciate your support as we do our best to grow it for you.

Our Practices

Oceanside Farms grows vegetables and fruits outdoors and in 10 high tunnels. We raise a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, berries, chickens and ducks! Though we are not “Certified Organic,” we grow all our produce and our Alaska Certified Seed Potatoes (9 varieties) without the use of synthetically based chemicals, pesticides, fungicides, or fertilizers and using low till and regenerative farming techniques as much as we can.

In 2022, both Don and Donna Rae became certified instructors of Korean Natural Farming and developed even more of an appreciation for the soil food web. Don is a master composter and we incorporate biochar into our process. We use organic seeds when possible and we never use GMO's or treated seed.

We love growing healthy, flavorful, nutritious food for the local community. We love learning and teaching about regenerative farming and fresh, real food. We are completing our produce processing building that will house our commercial juicer where customers can bring their fresh rhubarb or apples (or other fruits and vegetables) to make juice!

“The biggest thing you can do is understand that every time you're going to the grocery store, you're voting with your dollars. ”
